Techniques

As you can read on the front page the first technique, the Emotion Elevator, came to me in a very difficult period of my life. I had divorced a year ago and was taking care of my three kids practically alone. My oldest child had a hard time coping with all the changes. Even best days  were only survival. Life was really hard. There was really, really little rest, if any.

Times like that can end in two ways: falling down dead or rising out of ashes and renew oneself. I our case it turned to renewal. Renewal of our relationship to our thoughts, emotions and desires and the relationship between me and my son.

In Finland I call the three techniques Atuhe method referring to the first syllables of techniques in Finnish language: Ajatusseula, Tunnehissi, Haluhaavi => Elämä/Life. In English-speaking countries it might be called TED AL, referring to Thought Sieve, Emotion Elevator and Desire Net => Action => Life circumstances. Whatever you want to call it, here comes the techniques.

You can find similarities with some mindfulness or cognitive therapy techniques. After my awakening to these processes in 1999 I have found my favorites: Human condition theory and Transformation movement by biologist Jeremy Griffith (explaining why we human as species have a tendency to behave in a competitive and defensive way), Mindsight approach by Dr Dan Siegel (bringing the neurobiological knowledge of our brains to our everyday life), The Work by Katie Byron (clearing messy mindsets and imagined stories that shape our lives), The Journey by Byron Bay (clearing emotional mess from our bodies and minds) and The Core Transformation by Connirae Andreas (living from the core). Lately I have also deepened my understanding of consciousness and awareness in O & O Academy, India.

All above mentioned techniques are great fun, but a bit time consuming. If you have a lot of time and energy, it might be good idea to surf on them, dig deeper into the mess of human condition  and enjoy the ride! But if you are in a hurry, The Atuhe - method (or TED AL if you prefer that name) is a fast shortcut to wiser choices in life - both personal, national and global.

My burning (questioned) desire is to get these simple, fast techniques to spread into the world. If that would happen, we would be more able to shape our future into a beautiful direction - not just follow our old, automatic mindsets from stone age. We can resolve our psychosocial defense modes in many ways. So, let us do it!
